“Sunnī” & “Salafī” have the exact same Religio-Linguistic Meaning inherently
Both 2-Words mean that one whom adopts, attributes themselves, etc. to Either-Words comprehends/adheres to al-Islām relative to the Religio-Precedence of as-Salaf:
a. as-Sahābah (the Companions of Muhammad)
b. Generations-1&2 of at-Tābi`īn (the Followers of as-Sahābah)

“as-Sunniyyah” (commonly known as “Sunnī-Islām”): a Grossly-Popular Misnomer…this exclusively emerged as a Religio-Political Pushback against ash-Shī`iyyah/Shī`ism (commonly known as “Shī`ī-Islām”). As per Religio-History, Muslims have grossly tolerated Muslim & Non-Muslim Pseudo-Experts of al-Islām place Muslims globally into “2-Branches of al-Islām”: the “Sunnīs” & the “Shī`īs”. Now in spite of the Fact that ash-Shī`iyyah is an Actual-Hizb/Sect amongst Muslims: ash-Shī`iyyah isn’t a “Branch” of al-Islām. And, neither is as-Sunniyyah: there’s no such Thing as “Branches of al-Islām”. There does exists, unfortunately, Various-Ahzāb/Sects amongst the Muslims. In All-Truthfulness/Honesty: the Term “Sunnī” is exclusively a Religio-Political Term, thus describing any Muslim who’s Non-Shī`ī. This, of course, being the Direct-Result of Non-Shī`ī vs. Shī`ī Religio-Political Turmoil.

With the Collapse of al-Khilāfah/Islāmic-Governance via the Ottoman-Empire: as-Salafiyyah over Time began to be a Major Religio-Ideological Player, via the Muslim-World, powered by: Petroleum via al-Khalīj/the Gulf-States, U.S./Western-World Backing against the Shī`ī-State known as Modern-Day Iran, etc.

The Siblings of the Pen: Gareth Bryant & Tālib Nathaniel: we’ve vehemently opposed each other, regarding Gareth Bryant contesting the Notion that “Sunnī” & “Salafī” are “Different-Terms”. Tālib Nathaniel along with Team-Ash`arī have attempted to “debunk” my Points, regarding the “Sunnī” vs. “Salafī” Mythos, but to no avail. Yeah…they all tried & they all failed as well. The Back&Forth between Gareth Bryant and Tālib Nathaniel, as usual, was respectful, principled, integral, etc. But, at the Same-Time, as usual, The Siblings of the Pen clearly never saw Eye2Eye regarding the Reality which is the “Sunnī” vs. “Salafī” Mythos.

These-Terms have been grossly manipulated historically. The Sabab/Reason how&why is exclusively to attempt controlling Fellow-Muslims. From the Moment I learned that “Sunnī” & “Salafī” are Religio-Synonymous: I immediately distanced myself from Both-Terms. Reason being is because Both-Terms have been historically used to manipulate/control Others. It’s because the Easiest-Way to control anyone is via Religio-Spiritual Domination. And, principally, I utterly refuse to take part via any Sifah/Manifestation of Religio-Monopolization.
