The Origins of the Sādin/Keykeeper of al-Ka`bah
Since the Time of Abraham (Peace be upin them), the Qiwāmah/Responsibility for the Khidmah/Upkeep of the Ka`bah has been passed down through Several-Generations. Initially, this Duty fell upon his son Ishmael (who worked alongside their Father in raising the Foundations of the Ka`bah). The Khidmah over the Ka`bah shifted: initially usurped by the Jurhum-Tribe, it was later seized by the Khuzā`ah-Tribe. Eventually, it came into the Hands of Qusayy ibn-Kilāb. The Khidmah of the Ka`bah remained within Qusayy’s-Nasb/Lineage (passing from their to his Eldest-Son `Abd-ud-Dār and then amongst Banī`Abd-id-Dār before & after the Revelation of The Qur’ān). This-Nasb persisted until it reached `Uthmān ibn-Talhah (May Allah be pleased with them). Prior to the Revelation of The Qur’ān, the Asbāt/Descendants of Qusayy ibn-Kilāb (the 4th-Grandfather of Muhammad [Peace be upon them]) served as Sadanah/Keykeepers of the Ka`bah. Amongst These-Descendants are the Members of Banī-Shaybah (a Tribal-Family via Quraysh), who hold the Khidmah of the Ka`bah in Accordance with the Amr/Directive of Muhammad.
From Fath/Conquest-Of-Makkah and beyond
Before the Fath/Conquest-Of-Makkah: `Uthmān ibn-Talhah held the Maqām/Position of Keykeeper of the Ka`bah. They were known as the “Sādin/Keykeeper-of-Makkah”. In the `Ām/Year of the Fath, `Uthmān (alongside `Amr ibn-il-`Ās and Khālid ibn-il-Walīd [May Allah be pleased with them]) accepted al-Islām & migrated to al-Madīnah. During the Fath of Makkah, Muhammad had summoned `Uthmān ibn-Talhah, thereby entrusting them with the Miftāh/Key of the Ka`bah, and stated: “Take/keep This-Miftāh, as an Everlasting-Amānah/Trust. None, except a Zhālim/Tyrant, would dare attempt to take it away from you.”. Thus, the Khidmah of the Ka`bah still remains within their Ahl/Family, as ordained by Muhammad. After `Uthmān ibn Talhah passed away, their Cousin Shaybah inherited the Miftāh of the Ka`bah, and has remained among their Relatives/Descendants.

How/why does this even matter?!!!
The Recent-Demise of Sālih ibn Zayn-il-`Ābidīn ash-Shaybī in 1445, A.H./2024, C.E. is what prompted me to ponder deeply about the Aforementioned-Usūl/Origins of the Sanadah of the Ka`bah, especially since they died in the Same-Year that I returned to Makkah after 2-Decades.

Sālih ibn Zayn-il-`Ābidīn ash-Shaybī held the Maqām of Kibār-Sādin (Senior/Chief-Keykeeper) of the Ka`bah from 1424, A.H./2013, C.E. till their Death following their Uncle, `Abd-ul-Qādir TāHā ash-Shaybī. They were the 77th-Sādin since the Fath of Makkah & the 109th-Sādin since the Time of Qusayy ibn-Kilāb. `Abdal-Wahhāb ibn Zayn-il-`Ābidīn ash-Shaybī was selected to be the Replacement of Sālih ibn Zayn-il-`Ābidīn ash-Shaybī: making them the 78th-Sādin since the Fath-Of-Makkah & the 110th-Sādin since the Lifetime of Qusayy ibn-Kilāb.
As per the Revelation of The Qur’ān, Countless-Events have Shape the Tārīkh/History of al-Ka`bah:
There’ve been Various Khilāfāt/Islāmic-Regimes which have caused al-Ka`bah to be under the Wilāyah/Jurisdiction of.
The Muslim Civil-Wars, the Crusades, the Mongol-Conquest of 1/2 the Middle-East, Various Breakoff-Principalities stemming from the Dhi`f/Weakness of the `Abbāsī-Period.
There’ve been Battles/Massacres, Hostile-Takeovers, Seiges, etc. at al-Ka`bah.
al-Hajr-al-Aswad/the Black-Stone was literally stolen from al-Ka`bah & it had taken Decades to get it back to al-Ka`bah.
The Collapse of al-Khilāfah/Islāmic-Governance, via the Ottoman-Empire, Post-WWI.
etc.
But, throughout & inspite all of this: no one, literally no one, has yet even dared to attempt to confiscate the Ka`bah-Keys from the Āl/Household-Descendants of `Uthmān ibn-Talhah. Thus, this Religio-Historical Fact proves that the Prophecies/Prophetic-Edicts of Muhammad were All-Truth/Honesty.

As Muslims, it’s crucially important that we know This-History. The Story of al-Ka`bah is the Human-Story of every Muslim. We must take Islāmic-History very seriously. All-Muslims are Islāmically-Mandated to take an Interest in knowing such a Significant-Prophecy continuously fulfilled via our Lifetimes spanning Countless-Generations.
